Meet: The Craftery's Spring Interns

You may have seen that in the middle of January, I put out a call for Spring internship applications. I chose four very promising young ladies at the end of that month, and our work together started on the first of February. I can't believe it's been almost a month now, although I won't beat myself up because this one only has 29 days, but it's high time you all meet these wonderful women!

My first name is Deborah; middle name is Joy. I've been doing wedding photography with Ashah Photography for two and a half years now, and have come to enjoy wedding design through going to so many weddings. I love catching the joy that people share in a picture. I tend to see the good in every thing and every one, as just a positive person. I get my biggest blasts of creativity when I'm praying. I usually think my mind is just being distracting until I remember He is the ultimate creator. I simply enjoy helping other people and do what ever I can to make their job easier in any job setting.

I graduated from Kennesaw State University with a degree in International Management from the Coles College of Business. My Cuban heritage raised me on café con leche and a perspective that life is about the things that you are passionate about. For Cubans, that is a lot, including family, music, dancing, color and much more. Since I was a child I have spent most of my free time drawing, sketching, painting with acrylic on canvas and anything else for that matter, making furniture and numerous other creative projects I could get my hands on! I truly believe inspiration is all around us and is also unique to each specific person - and frankly I think that’s amazing. When I am not at my day job at a college campus working with students, I try to fit as much time as possible working on multiple artistic endeavors such as my current role with Ashley at Buzzy Craftery. My other interests include traveling and working out. I mean I do love my step class! I am always looking to learn more about more.

I am an old soul; my style is anything vintage. I'm a southern girl through and through but I spent a year in Europe after college and left my heart in Italy. I have a degree in violin performance and music will always be a part of my life - I listen to classical, bluegrass, and everything in between. I love warm cars in winter, people-watching, cream soda, fireworks, foggy mornings, old books, and sun in my eyes.

As an aspiring baker, developing graphic designer, and peacemaker between brides and moms, I am honored to work with Buzzy Craftery for the next few months! By day, I am the custom wedding stationer of plainjane Designs in Athens, and by night, a freelance designer and occasional nanny. I dream that one day I will own my own bakery and design shop (so, keep an eye out for that!). I adore daily checklists, gel pens (not pencils), yearly trips to Disney, and dancing the Wobble. I recently graduated from the University of Georgia with my BA degree in Graphic Design and can't wait to see what the next few years bring.
